Happy St. Patrick’s Day, my adult-ish friends!
I’ve decided to start something new. Since I’m broke and can’t afford to buy any rounds at the bar this weekend, I decided to just write a ROUND up post instead. (I’m stretching it, I know. Bear with me)
This is the Gold Star Roll Call. Every month, I will do a roundup of my favorite blog posts.
Remember when you were in elementary school and got gold stars for just about anything? You answered a question correctly? GOLD STAR! You drew a tree that looks more like a mushroom cloud? GOLD STAR!
I think adulthood needs more gold stars, so I’m starting this new tradition.
You made it out of bed today? GOLD STAR!
This month, I thought I’d focus on the upcoming holiday – St. Pat’s!
As you prepare for your fun-filled weekend, let’s not forget what’s most important. I know you’re already thinking of possible Instagram captions, but put the phone down for just a second, and enjoy what’s around you.
That’s the way to really make life Instagram-worthy. Plus, all the pictures with your friends will help you actually remember the night before.
Now, it’s clear I’m not a mother, but if I was, I would want to be just like Krystyn.
She’s a sarcastic dream-come-true in the form of a wonderful mom, with the cutest bunch of kiddos, including one red-headed leprechaun.
(Side note, if she ever says she can’t do something, you should definitely say, “You’re a lepre-CAN, not a lepre-CAN’T.” Or not. You’re a bit more qualified to give the advice here.)
No matter how busy she gets, she always takes the time for “Mommy and Me Mondays,” where she discusses the importance of enjoying every moment with your kids, instead of living in your phone. She says you should be using your phone to your advantage to help make the memories last.
“Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids.”
Krystyn, “Really, Are You Serious?”
Even if you don’t have kids in your life, you can still use this technique with any relationship. Friends, boyfriend/girlfriends, and even family. Especially your parents. You’ll be glad you preserved these memories when they’re gone.
I know I spend too much time taking pictures of my friend’s babies, but one day, they will want one of these goofy pictures for a #tbt post (if Instagram is still even a thing). And they’ll have Aunt Whit to thank for that! (And Krystyn).
Cheryl is living the dream. She’s adorable and has a tall, dark, and handsome husband, so it was only fair that she got stuck with THREE boys. She makes the best of it by creating some of the cutest baseball t-shirt designs I’ve ever seen for them.
This month, though, it was something different that caught my eye. Maybe it was a tiny bit holiday spirit making itself known or just the fact that I’ve been working late all week, but this SPOKE to me.
You know you’re a beer lover when you walk into a small restaurant in your hometown, and without ordering, they bring you an ice cold Bud Light draft.
And now, it’s festive, so I’m not just drinking – I’m celebrating. And since we’ve already taken the time hang out with Krystyn’s post, it’s time to prepare for our hangover.
Cheryl’s post comes with the downloadable print to create your own mug. While I don’t have enough moolah to purchase a fancy vinyl cutting machine, I still appreciate a good design when I see one! And I’ll probably print it out on a piece of paper and tape it to my shirt anyway.
Keep up the good work, girl. (And all the puns.)
Before I moved, I was always struggling to keep up with my apartment complex’s festive decorations, especially my next door neighbor. She decorated for absolutely everything! One time, she literally put a red carpet over her door with gold streamers for Oscar night.
In my new house, I’ve decided I’m not getting one-upped anymore.
And this brings us to Cami, a modern-day crafting wizard.
There is no limit to the amount of creativity flowing in this tiny lady. Like, who would have thought to use a shadow box?
This project is super easy and you don’t even have to pick up a hot glue gun, which I’m convinced was made by a masochist.
I’ve always been a sucker for adding greenery in your home, so you can imagine how much I love this. It’s green, and I don’t have to water it.
You can even use this in the fall! Change the clovers out for yellow and orange leaves, and write some cheesy love quote behind it, like “LEAF me the heck alone.”
These bloggers are amazingly creative and kind. I found their blogs while I was searching for inspiration for my own. You guys know I’m brutally honest, so I never hustle things I don’t believe in. But if you get the time, check them out.
Stay tuned for more roundups!
(I need a name for these posts. It took me about 3 months to finally decide on Big Kid Pants, so how about some input! What do you think I should name my monthly roundup posts? Comment below.)
